Curatorial Responsibilities

 

The curatorial responsibilities of members of the Department, with a selection of recent or pending publications specifically on the Museum collections, are as follows:

Susan Walker, Keeper
Greek and Roman Antiquities
Since moving from the British Museum in 2004, Dr Walker has been much engaged with the design elements of the Ashmolean Plan. She is editing a collection of essays on recent Roman archaeological discoveries in Greece.
Liam McNamara, Assistant Keeper
Ancient Egypt and Sudan
Mr McNamara is Lead Curator on the redevelopment of the Egypt and Nubia galleries, due to reopen on 26 November 2011. He specializes in the archaeology of the late Predynastic and Early Dynastic periods.
Paul Collins, Assistant Keeper
Ancient Near Eastern collections
Developing an introduction to the ancient Near East collections and a catalogue of ancient Near Eastern glass.
Eleanor Standley, Assistant Keeper
Anglo-Saxon and Medieval Collections
Dr Standley specialises in later medieval British archaeology, with a particular interest in themes of daily life and dress accessories. She is also a lecturer in the University's School of Archaeology.
Anja Ulbrich, The A.G. Leventis Curator of the Cypriot Collection
Publications on Cypriot religion and sanctuaries of the Archaic and Classical period.
Alison Roberts, , Curator for European and Early Prehistoric Collections
Responsible for European Prehistory, Palaeolithic and Archive collections.
Currently working on the historic British archaeological collections and the Sir John Evans Palaeolithic collections and archive.
Ioannis Galanakis, Curator for the Aegean collections and the Sir Arthur Evans Archive.
